Start light. Design systems can get very overwhelming when you’re starting. Especially if you’re trying to create a system with an existing product.
Start with something along the lines of fundamentals. This can be where all the other parts or your system pull from. (I say can because that’s how I did it, you can do it anyway you want!)
Once you have you fundamentals you can start building out other elements or you may already have these somewhere.
Here’s the order I would use to build out a design system
